As is customary every year, the nominations for the "Razzie" awards have been released, 24 hours before the Oscar nominations. The awards are in their 26th year and "celebrate" the worst in film from the past year.

SAG Awards

Brokeback Mountain missed out on the best picture gong at the Screen Actors Guild awards. The honours went to racial drama Crash. There was also British success as Rachel Weisz won best supporting actress for The Constant Gardener.

DGA Honours Ang Lee

The Directors Guild of America has honoured Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee with this year's award. The DGA award is considered the precursor to winning the Oscar for best director.

The German WW2 drama Downfall has won the BBC Four World Cinema Award. The Oscar nominated film charts the last days of the war from Hitler's Berlin bunker.

Chris Penn Dies

Actor Chris Penn (younger brother of Sean) has died at the age of 43. He is most famous for his role in Reservoir Dogs.

Prince Caspian to be next Narnia Film

Shelley Winters Dies

Double Oscar winning actress Shelley Winters has died aged 85. She was best known for her roles in The Diary of Anne Frank and The Poseidon Adventure. She also starred in Stanley Kubrick's Lolita.
